The Challenge

In today’s rapidly changing VUCA world, employees at all levels are confronted with the challenge of trying to maintain high levels of performance while often charting unfamiliar territory. This challenge is further exacerbated by the fact that most employees have traditionally been educated and exposed to workplace training, that operates on the assumption that the world is significantly more predictable and rational that what it actually is. It is therefore little wonder that feelings of not being able to cope, stress and overwhelm are commonplace. Indeed, recent research in Singapore indicated that 60% of employees experience above average levels of stress.

our belief

What is required instead, is support and training that equips employees with the mindset and skills that reflect the reality of today’s workplace where change is the norm; uncertainty is a familiar state; where they are forced to manage complex problems that require integration of information from many sources and where the “right” answer as to the best course of action can be ambiguous. Knowing that we largely cannot control the demands of work, we can instead develop skills of resilience that enable employees to not just cope, but thrive in such conditions.

our APPROACH

This workshop introduces participants to an evidence based model developed by Dr Martin Seligman, a leading psychologist in the field of positive psychology, that helps them to build the core competencies that have been proven to build resilience. Through a series of interactive and engaging activities, participants are given opportunities to practice the skills and techniques, as well as develop robust personal action plans to help embed and sustain their mindset and behaviours shifts back in the workplace.

The workshop is designed to build 5 key competencies that help individuals to become more resilient and thrive in stressful conditions in the workplace.

  1. Positive Emotion – become aware of the emotional states that help to facilitate performance and learn to strategies to create that state more often.

  2. Engagement – identify character strengths to consciously employ in stressful situations to gain more self control.

  3. Relationships – how to develop stronger relationships at work to act as a buffer to the VUCA experience.

  4. Meaning – find purpose and meaning in everyday activities at work to increase satisfaction.

  5. Achievement – adopt a growth mindset to fuel continuous improvement to drive a shift in performance.
